Carpe Digem

The Mallorca Chamber of Commerce is participating in the European project  Carpe Digem whose aim is to create regional ecosytems to help small and medium-sized businesses in Europe in their process to go digital.

Ten organizations from seven different countries make up the Foundation consortium implementing good practices and tools over the next two years to encourage SME's in their digital transformation and create these meeting points throughout Europe.

Carpe Digem is financed by the Regional Development Fund of the European Union  (Interreg Europe), and has a budget of €1,737,910 for research and innovation for the period 1st August 2019 to 31st January 2023.

During the execution of this European project, the process of how companies work with public administration within different European regions to go digital will be studied.

What is the aim of Carpe Digem?

By learning from what is happening in other regions of Europe and creating synergies, we wish to create a climate of innovation and permanent digital evolution to improve the opportunities for economic and social growth in Mallorca.  The main objective is to promote the importance of setting up a Digital Innovation Hub amongst stakeholders and the public administration so that digital transformation is accesible to all companies on the island.

Digital Innovation Hub Baleares

Digital technology is changing the way we understand the world and this change is having a profound effect on products, processes and, in short, business in general.  The Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) are ecosytems for digital transformation.  They are points of contact for creating synergies and building connections between centres for research, users, companies, experts in technology and investors.  They are here to support small and medium sized companies which make up 90% of European companies although only 1 out of 5 is operating to its full digital potential.  The aim of the DIHs is to help these companies integrate technology and speed up their digitalization.

With the help of the European project Carpe Digem, we propose to make this function 100%, led by Turistec and in collaboration with the Balearic Islands University (UIB), Cooperativa Agrícola, the Regional Government of the Balearic Islands and Fundación Impulsa.
